ICAN welcomes members who share our commitment to compassionate, welfare-led practice.
All organisations, charities, non-profits and individuals interested in joining ICAN must use force-free methods only and place animal welfare at the heart of their work.
Applications
To allow our volunteer team time to review each application carefully, ICAN membership applications open during two dedicated periods each year:
February–March
August–September
Applications submitted outside these periods will not be processed. You are welcome to register your interest, and we will contact you when the next application window opens.
Membership Options
ICAN membership is open to:
- Charities and non-profits
- Organisations
- Individuals who are part of ICAN member organisations
These individuals are covered as part of their organisation’s membership. - Individuals
Membership Fees
Our current membership fees are:
- Charities and non-profits: Free membership
- Organisations: £100 per year
- Organisation Members: Free membership
- Individuals: £25 per year

ICAN Declaration
For all accepted ICAN members
All charities, organisations and individuals who are accepted as an ICAN member will need to sign the declaration below.
“I hereby acknowledge that all animals are sentient beings, capable of rich emotions, have the capacity to feel pain and have complex, species-specific needs.
I declare that in the care, management and training of all animals I interact with, I will always seek to promote positive emotions and protect against negative ones.
Furthermore, I will always endeavour to understand the specific needs and welfare of the animals in my care and fulfil them to the best of my ability.”
